All that yakking about driving, and I forgot my favorite part of the whole ordeal. My goal was basically to drive about 10 times and take the road test. One of those 10 times was to be with a professional driving instructor just so he can tell me what to work on and what to keep in mind for the test. Well, I went through with the behind-the-wheel lesson, and it was $100 well spent!
After I got into the car, the instructor and I were exchanging introductions, and he mentioned something that made my ears perk up: He splits time between California and Florida because he also works at Disney World! So of course I had to mention my internship there, and we both happen to start in September. He’s seasonal and goes back every winter. He sounds like kind of a big deal in Parade Audience Control, which is amazing because I was already interested in doing that. He said he’d be the one training me to do it if I ever feel like picking up a PAC shift from the Hub.
Basically we ended up talking about Disney World the whole time I was driving, including a story about a hilarious yet bloody confrontation during one of the parades, and I got to know all the ins and outs of the road test at the DMV. I’ve also got a great contact when I’m over there now. Sweet deal!
